Exercise Goal
Take 10 simulation trades using only audio cues from PriceSquawk—no DOM, no charts, no visual indicators. Just sound.
The goal isn’t profitability (though that’s a bonus). The goal is to experience how sound can reveal order flow patterns that visual tools miss, and to prove to yourself that audio trading is a legitimate edge worth developing.
This 15-30 minute exercise is your introduction to audio-first trading. Once you complete these 10 trades, you’ll understand why veteran traders like @2yrflipper trade exclusively using audio on a single screen, and you’ll be ready for the full #100Trades challenge.
Why Trade Blind?
If you’ve completed exercises #1-4, you’ve learned to read the DOM, work the book, and manage positions. You’ve built a foundation in order flow. But there’s a dimension you’re missing: sound.
With headphones on, you literally feel the order flow. You hear:
- The difference between 10 lots and 100 lots
- The rhythm of aggressive buying versus selling
- When momentum shifts before it shows on any chart
- Size stepping in that you’d miss scanning multiple markets visually
It feels weird at first. Around trade 5 or 6, something clicks. You start hearing patterns you couldn’t see. That’s when most traders get it. This first exercise should take 15-30 minutes and will give you a taste of what trading with audio feels like.
Worth Knowing: Real traders are using trade sounds as a serious edge. @2yrflipper, a 27-year Chicago Board of Trade veteran, trades exclusively off audio. I guarantee if you complete this exercise, like I did with the #100Trades experiment, you’ll start hearing patterns and feel that gut feeling of where the market’s going next (in the short term anyway).
Watch the Demo First
Before you set up, watch this 2-minute walkthrough showing the complete setup process and extended audio examples:
Trading Exercise Rules
Setup:
- Trade Sounds widget with the #100trades audio patch
- Simulation Trading widget for execution
- Market Replay data (or live dxFeed if subscribed)
- Headphones (mandatory for stereo separation)
- No other windows open – resist the urge to look at charts or DOM
Entry Rules:
- Listen for 25+ lot prints (you’ll hear the bass)
- Enter as quickly as possible in the same direction
- Use market orders if needed – the goal is speed
Exit Rules:
- Exit when you hear size trading in the opposite direction
- Exit if momentum shifts (you’ll hear the rhythm change)
- Mental stop: 3-5 ticks depending on the market
Session Rules:
- Complete 10 trades minimum in one session
- Publish your session to the Sessions board when done
- Take notes on what you heard vs what you expected
Step-by-Step Setup Instructions
Time needed: ~5 minutes to set up, then 15-30 minutes for the exercise
1. Login to the Platform
Login to app.pricesquawk.com and access the Dashboard
2. Load the #100Trades Patch (Settings)
- Click the Patches Library from the menu (must be on the Dashboard)
- Click the Community Patches tab (these are all patches shared by the community you can load up easily)
- Scroll down to find #100trades Patch
- Click Load for the #100trades Patch by PriceSquawk
- Click Market Replay tab in the Symbol popup (or use live dxFeed data if subscribed or free Binance live symbols)
- Click on an MNQ replay date symbol e.g. MNQZ5
💡 Observe the Tape to confirm you’re getting the feed (allow ~1 minute if its loading the replay data). Right click on the gadget shown to view the Time & Sales if needed.

Note: Date/Time will be your local time that aligns with the 9AM – 11:30AM ET replay data feed.
3. Configure Your Audio
🎧 Use headphones. This is non-negotiable. You need stereo separation for Buy/Sell direction.
You’re now listening to exactly what I’ve been listening to:
- 📊 5+ lot trades: Pitch going up and down with price
- 🔊 Stereo separation: Sells in left speaker, Buys in right speaker
- 🔔 Size alerts: Audible alerts for 10, 25, 50, 100 lot prints
💡 Calibration tip: Watch the Tape and listen simultaneously for the first minute to connect what you see with what you hear. Then minimize the Tape (Right click -> Volume Ranges Table or use the expander icon in the bottom right)
4. Load Simulation Widget
- Click Simulation Trading in the menu
- Click Market Replay tab in the Symbol popup (or use live data if subscribed)
- Click on the exact same symbol loaded above in step 2. For example if you selected MNQZ5 for Nov 26, 2025 then select this for the Simulation widget, so you are trading what you hear.
💡 Critical: Ensure your Sim Widget and Trade Sounds are using the same symbol and data feed.
5. Close Everything Else
This is the hard part. If using live data and you have an external DOM, close it. Close any charts connected to your widgets. Just have Trade Sounds and the Sim widget visible. The only visual reference you need is the Buy / Sell buttons, or you can use the keyboard shortcut keys.
You’re ready to trade blind.
During the Exercise
The key is you’re not trying to predict. You’re responding to what’s actually happening in the order flow, right now.
What to listen for:
- Bass sounds = size (25+ lots)
- Right speaker activity = buyers hitting offers
- Left speaker activity = sellers hitting bids
- Pitch changes = price movement
- Rhythm changes = momentum shifts
Common mistakes in the first 10 trades:
- Entering too late (you’ll get better at recognizing size)
- Overthinking (trust what you hear, not what you think should happen)
- Looking for visual confirmation (that defeats the purpose)
- Exiting too early (give the audio time to tell you the story)
If you get frustrated: That’s normal. The first few trades feel like you’re flying blind. You are. But your brain is incredibly good at pattern recognition. Give it a few trades.
Review Your Session
After completing your 10 trades, answer these questions:
- Around which trade did it start to “click”? Most traders report trades 5-6 is when patterns emerge.
- What surprised you most? Common answers: “I heard the shift before I would have seen it” or “The size was obvious once I listened for it.”
- Compare your entries to a Chart: Pull up the market replay again and watch the same timeframe on the popout chart (Right Click on the existing gadget -> Launch Chart). How early/late were your entries compared to visual cues?
- Volume profile context: Review the 1-minute volume chart. Were your entries at logical points (breakouts, reversals, volume steps)?
- Did you break the rules? Were you tempted to peek at charts? Did you?
Most importantly: Can you articulate what you heard that made you take each trade? If not, do another 10 trades. The goal is to build a vocabulary for what you’re hearing.
What’s Next: The Full #100Trades Challenge
If you completed this exercise and thought “there’s something here,” then you’re ready for the full challenge: #100Trades (using sound).
The full experiment takes this concept to 100 trades, developing a complete audio-first trading system. Traders who complete it report:
- Dramatically improved order flow reading
- The ability to monitor multiple markets simultaneously
- Reduced screen fatigue
- Earlier entries on momentum shifts
- A genuine edge in crowded markets
This first 10-trade exercise proves the concept. The full 100 trades builds the skill.

Troubleshooting
- Can’t hear anything? Check your system volume and headphone connection
- Audio sounds wrong? Make sure both widgets are on the same symbol
- Replay data not loading? Allow 60-90 seconds for historical data to populate
